How Important Were E.C.W To The Business ?

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Modfather back again with another article. This week concerning how important ECW were to the business as a whole.

We've all heard of the stories that Vince McMahon stole the attitude era from under the noses of ECW, but how true is that ?

Well, let's have a little look and see.

First off, where to begin. Well why not the man behind the plan. Paul Heyman.

Heyman has always been an integral part of any company he has been in. In WCW he was the leader of the Dangerous Alliance which boasted throughout it's time, some of the most gifted men and women WCW had to offer. Even back in the AWA where it first appeared, the Dangerous Alliance with The Rock n Roll Express were winning the AWA Tag titles, and Adrian Adonis having a series on high profile matches against AWA's top competitors.

He was given the opportunity to run the D.A once again in WCW, and WCW wasted no time in securing him Rick Rude, Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson as...

Mark Henry – The Heel Report: Week 11 (Season 2013-2014)

Right finally we have the Payback results and subsequent week on the chart, I seem to have less and less time to write these days but I will endeavour to continue to deliver the report, even if it is later than late and never seems to get any comments anymore. Anyway, let’s get on with it…

Weekly Top Ten:

1st Place: Mark Henry (10/10)

Payback aside it is hard to consider anyone else for the top spot when Henry managed to sucker everyone in before lowering the boom and dropping Cena, obviously earning himself a title shot for MitB. I take back any comments I made about Henry taking on Cena instead of Ryback these past few months, although this angle still would have worked, imagine Cena doing the same to Henry as Ryback and then Henry saying he would retire, it...

Doink The ClownDoink The Clown death update:

A local Texas NBC News affiliate has clarified details about the death of 90s WWE star Matt Borne – Doink The Clown. His girlfriend didn’t discover him dead, he was transported to hospital after she found him unresponsive inside their apartment in Plano, and he passed away later.

Reports of a homicide investigation are true, but this was just part of standard procedure. The death is being called “accidental.”

The suspected cause of death is still unknown.

Speaking of Doink Sean Waltman says the death didn’t surprise him on Twitter…

In The Doctor’s Chair – WWE Payback

Welcome to another WWE oriented edition of In The Doctor’s Chair and my first for The Wrestling Truth, in the chair this month we examine WWE’s new June PPV, Payback.

Again in the main event we have John Cena v Ryback for the WWE Championship, this time in the rarely seen Three Stages Of Hell match. In my opinion this feud is nowhere near hot enough to warrant the Three Stages Of Hell stipulation which has worked so well in the past as blow offs for great feuds like Triple H v Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H v Shawn Michaels, the last time a match of this type was held involved Triple H and Randy Orton in 2009 so this will be the first time Triple H is not involved in a Three Stages Of Hell match and only the 4th in history. For me this type of match is synonymous with a great and bitter feud which requires the brutality that only this match facilit...

Chris Benoit’s Sister-In-Law Comments on 2007 Murder/Suicide and More

- The sister-in-law of Chris Benoit, Sandra Toffoloni, was interviewed by The2Counter.com on the tragic double murder/suicide in 2007. Here are some highlights:

Reports of Chris Benoit’s breakdown was caused by Concussion Syndrome: “You know, evidence showed that on the Sunday before he committed suicide, he was booking flights to get to the show he was scheduled to appear on in Beaumont, Texas. This shows that there was a moment, however brief, that he thought he could get away with it. I don’t believe in the brain damage theory. He killed 2 people and believed he could go wrestle. The concussion theory doesn’t really stick with me.”

On Chris Benoit only having less then ten months left to live: “Yes, my brother-in-law had concussions, he hit his head for a living and I understand that. But way beyond that, he had a very serious drug and steroid problem. Unfortunately, a lot of athletes still do...
