Savage is on hand as co-host tonight. Vince wonders who will get the shot and Savage says it should be him. Vince points out that Savage would need a partner and besides, he’s busy doing commentary, so Savage says whoopdy doo.
Diesel out with Shawn Michaels now to kick things off. His opponent, none other than Virgil, who even gets an entrance so you forget this is really just a squash. Diesel opens things up with a knee and some punches, then a foot choke in the corner. Diesel misses a charge and Virgil wrings the arm. He goes up top and gets a chop, but Diesel punches him in the face and delivers a sidewalk slam. Savage says Diesel is different than other WWF superstars due to “tenacity or something.” Vince calls Diesel a great athlete. Savage wonders what he’s thinking.
