A one-way trip from Monroe, Conn. to Springfield, Mass. is about 90 miles, enough distance and time to allow any active mind to wander. On the long stretch, new thoughts often seep in and take hold, whether attainable or on the edges of imagination. But that's only when reality isn't interfering.
