Francis Carmont impressed observers in his most recent fight. The performance has earned him a bout in his hometown.
According to reliable sources, Carmont and "Filthy" Tom Lawlor have agreed to meet in a middleweight matchup at UFC 154 on November 17 at Montreal's Bell Centre.
Carmont, who trains at Montreal's Tri Star Gym, is 3-0 in the UFC. His most recent victory was a strong second-round submission win over Karlos Veloma. Carmont has won eight straight fights, seven via finish inside of two rounds.

UFC featherweight Nam Phan is scheduled to face Cole Miller this Saturday at the upcoming UFC on FOX 4 event. Phan has switched up his usual camp to train with Urijah Faber and Team Alpha Male for this weekends bout. The former TUF 12 participant feels he is facing a tough striker but feels his opponents chin is suspect and may look to test it in their fight. Phan is 1-3 in his last four bouts and is coming off a loss to Jimy Hettes last December at UFC 141.

- A series of blogs credited to WWE Superstar Yoshi Tatsu were published earlier this week on a Sportsnavi.com website. The blogs appear in Japanese but a rough translation to English makes it sound like Tatsu is unhappy with some things in WWE.
Tatsu referenced the 2011 earthquake in Japan that was such a tragedy. Tatsu apparently wanted to raise the Japanese flag in support as he competed in the WrestleMania 27 pre-show battle royal but was not allowed by company officials. Yoshi also wanted to travel with WWE to Japan to help earthquake victims but was not allowed to because it was a RAW tour and he was on the SmackDown roster.
The series of blogs is titled “10 Issues” and that apparently refers to Tatsu’s gripes with his position in the company and other topics he had to get off his chest. The translation is very rough but Tatsu also talks about not being happy with his spot in WWE but says he is not critical of them, he just needed to get some things off his chest...

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested in May in Binghamton, New York. His sentencing was delayed twice, but on July 31 Jones received his formal sentencing. He will not serve any jail time.

There was some head scratching at RAW last night because WWE did not announce anything for next week’s RAW. One would think that WWE would at least advertise a Lesnar appearance in advance.
This is not confirmed yet but speculation is that the festivities for Shawn Michaels may just be for the local crowd in his hometown of San Antonio. WWE’s live events website is advertising Shawn, Lesnar and Triple H to appear next week but there is no official mention on WWE’s website of “HBK Appreciation Night.” The main advertising comes from the AT&T Center website.

- Fans continue to cheer for WWE Champion CM Punk at live events, almost a week after he turned heel on The Rock at RAW 1000. Punk worked Sunday’s live event in Pikeville, Kentucky and received the biggest pop of the night. Punk also impersonated Hulk Hogan in the match that saw him defeat Daniel Bryan and Kane in a three-way.
- Sunday’s event in Pikeville also saw former NXT star Percy Watson in action. He lost to Jinder Mahal. WWE’s South Africans battled at the live event on Sunday as Justin Gabriel defeated Leo Kruger. Kruger cut a heel promo before the match.

- WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter will be appearing at the Indiana Summer Golf Club in Olympia, Washington on August 10th at 12pm. Slaughter will be participating in the Celebrity Golf weekend events.
- WWE recently polled fans on future DVD and Blu-ray released they may be interested in. Some of the titles polled on were a Volume 2 of the WCW Nitro DVD, a Goldberg DVD, History of WWE and a DVD on the In Your House pay-per-view events.
- Former WWE star Marty Jannetty reportedly no-showed Sunday’s CHIKARA wrestling event in Everett, Massachusetts.
- Sara Del Rey worked the CHIKARA event on Sunday. She was telling fans that nothing is confirmed regarding her signing with WWE and she made the comment to one group of fans that she didn’t even know how she would be used there. Del Rey is in the middle of what’s being called her farewell tour on the independents. It’s been rumored that she may be brought in as a trainer to the WWE Divas.

Former WEC title challenger Manny Gamburyan is set to face Michihiro Omigawa this Saturday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Gamburyan feels he had a great camp leading up to this fight, stating that on paper he holds the edge over his Japanese opponent, in what is the “second biggest fight of my career.” Gamburyan has lost three straight inside of the Octagon with his last bout coming in December at UFC 141 with a decision loss to Diego Nunes.

It wasn't really the loudest of weekends. There was no UFC, no Strikeforce, no ONE FC, no Bellator. Sure, there was Invicta FC 2 and that was plenty exciting, but there were virtually no major fight announcements or news to track.
