Rampage's first Bellator opponent announced

TNA star/MMA fighter Quiton 'Rampage' Jackson will make his Bellator MMA debut against former UFC star Tito Ortiz on November 2 in Long Beach, California.

The fight will be aired on PPV, as was announced by Bellator on Wednesday night on Spike TV following King Mo's televised victory.

The "big announcement" was set up when Rampage Jackson was interviewed about making his Bellator debut. Boxing star Roy Jones, Jr. was at ringside, so Rampage "swerved" the audience by saying he would not be making his Bellator debut in a boxing fight, but in an MMA fight.

Rumor: Tito Ortiz Headed To TNA Wrestling

It was just announced on the Bellator MMA event on Spike TV that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would not be fighting Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match on pay-per-view at the end of the year as rumored. Instead, it will be Rampage in his home, the cage, fighting former friend and training partner, and the newest surprise addition to the Bellator MMA roster, Tito Ortiz.

Ortiz, who was retired, has signed a deal to fight for Bellator MMA, his first MMA home outside of the UFC in his career. While unconfirmed, it is possible Ortiz signed a joint deal with TNA iMPACT! Wrestling, as the MMA star has worked for the organization in the past with King Mo and Rampage Jackson. This is likely another “package deal” that will include Tito Ortiz in TNA as well.

Could Ortiz be the #August1Warning mystery-man? It sure looks that way but tune in to find out on Thursday’s edition of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling on Spike TV.

Spike TV and Bellator MMA issued the following press release on Wednesday evening:

BELLATOR ANNOUNCES RAMPAGE VS. TITO PAY-PER-VIEW

Live Saturday, November 2nd

Newport Beach, CA. (Wednesday, July 31st) – It was announced live inside the Bellator cage tonight that two of the biggest names in MMA Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Tito “The People’s Champion” Ortiz will meet in a light heavyweight battle live on PPV Saturday, November 2nd. The announcement was made with both Rampage and Tito inside the Bellator cage to a nationally televised audience on Spike TV at Bellator 97 inside The Santa Ana Star Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

“Rampage vs. Tito” will be held at Southern California’s Long Beach Arena, with tickets on sale at 10 AM PST this Saturday, August 3rd. Tickets can be purchased on Bellator.com, Ticketmaster.com, as well as at the Long Beach Arena Box Office.

It appears that 2K sports is planning to make another announcement involving the WWE2KVideo game. Their official Twitter account posted the following earlier today:

The Fan Who Attacked Randy Orton Reveals Why, More

UPDATE x 7: WWE’s spokesperson released a statement on Randy Orton’s condition, noting:

“Randy is well enough to have performed tonight in South Africa.”

UPDATE x 6: South African news site ENCA.com spoke with Tshepo Sekhabi, the man who attacked Randy Orton at a Cape Town, South Africa house show. In the article, Sekhabi says he quit his job in Johannesburg in order to make it to the show and received a black eye and a swollen face after Orton kicked him while he was being yanked from the ring.

When asked why he did it, Sekhabi said he’d planned it in advance, noting, “I just don’t like Randy Orton, this was an opportunity for me so I got up there and made a name for myself.”

The article notes that while Sekhabi wasn’t formally arrested, he was banned for five years from the resort where the show was being hold and was thrown out of the resort’s hotel, which he was staying at.

First out is R-Truth, rapping like usual. Barrett makes his way out. JBL joins Josh Mathews on commentary this week.

R-Truth vs. Wade Barrett

Lock up, Barrett with a headlock take-down. They focus on each other’s arms. Shoulderblock from Wade. Truth takes him down, followed by a leg drop. Barrett goes outside for a breather. Lock up again, Truth is flipped over for a two. R-Truth with a couple arm drags, knee from Barrett. Truth takes him down again with an arm drag Clothesline and elbow drop by Wade for a two. Truth counters with a kick, which is followed up with an impressive hurricanrana! Outside the ring, Barrett tosses Truth into the steps.

Update on Kofi’s Return, More Matches for WWE’s Best of MSG DVD

- As noted, Kofi Kingston is advertised to face Dean Ambrose at WWE live events in Australia at the end of July. Kofi was originally expected to be out of action for up to 8 weeks so it looks like he’s returning about a week ahead of schedule. Kofi is also advertised to appear at Best Buy on South Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Philadelphia on July 13th from 2pm until 4pm.

- WrestlingDVDNews.com has revealed 5 more matches and segments for WWE’s Best of Madison Square Garden set that comes out on August 27th:

JR Blog: Rumors of Sting to WWE, New Performance Center, Mid-South

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. Here are some highlights:

- Just received an advance copy of the Legends of Mid South DVD, three disc set for my review. This long awaited collection will be released September 10 in the USA and about a week later in the UK as I understand it. I had the chapters and the full match lineup in a blog here on the site a couple of weeks ago but apparently my blogs are not widely read as the IWC is just now printing the list and crediting others for providing it. Drat…thought I had a scoop.

- Less than a week away from the July 11 grand opening of the new, WWE Performance Center in Winter Park, Florida. Invitations have been extended to many and I’m expecting this to be a huge event/turnout celebrating a milestone day in WWE. If we are able to consistently bring in charismatic, world class athletes into this facility the future of WWE will be even brighter.

Funaki Works WWE Event, Cesaro Sheamus Go 24 Minutes, More

- Layla and Justin Gabriel will be representing WWE at the Comcast Connecticut Women’s Expo at the CT Convention Center on September 8th from 11am until 1pm. A ticket is required for admission, autographs and photos.

- Fans can win a meet & greet with a WWE Superstar at the July 11th NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University by dressing up as their favorite NXT or WWE Superstar and tagging it on Instagram with the hashtag #NXTInstaSLAM. You must include the name of the star you are dressed as and your Twitter handle in the photo caption.

- Almost 9,000 fans attended WWE’s final show in Tokyo, Japan last night. Japanese star Yoshi Tatsu picked up wins over Wade Barrett this week and celebrated with the Japanese flag after the match.

Another highlight from the show saw former WWE star Funaki work as the special guest referee as Natalya defeated Aksana. In other news from the event, Antonio Cesaro “won the fans over” after a 24 minute match with Sheamus.

Cult of Personality opens the show, and CM Punk makes his way to the ring to a nice pop. We get a recap of what happened on Raw, when Curtis Axel “stole” CM Punk’s victory in their tag team match. The ensuing argument between Punk and Paul Heyman was shown, as well. The blue Money in the Bank briefcase is hanging above the ring. Punk gets a mic and listens to the loud “CM PUNK” chants that have started. Punk says that if he were John Cena, he’d give a heartfelt speech about the 4th of July. But fortunately for us, he isn’t John Cena. He says he has a different point of view than Cena. To Punk, the 4th of July means “independence.” He says the Founding Fathers didn’t want to conform to anybody’s rules. They wanted to blaze their own trail, just like Punk. He says he’s fiercely independent. For example, when he was told he would be the hottest thing after WrestleMania he walked away. When people say he doesn’t have a chance at the Money in the Bank Ladder match, he wants to line them ...

Why RAW Won’t Be Going Back to Two Hours, New Titles for WWE DVD’s

- WrestlingDVDNews.com reports that the new title for WWE’s Triple H DVD and Blu-ray that comes out later this year is, “WWE: Triple H – Thy Kingdom Come.”

The new title for Bill Goldberg’s DVD set is, “WWE: Goldberg – The Ultimate Collection.”

- There are currently no plans for WWE to bring RAW back to two hours each week. WWE officials like the extra money they’re making each week and they are looking at more hours of TV and more rights fees each week. That’s where WWE is focused on growing their business right now – not live events or pay-per-views but TV and rights fees.

What was Curtis Axel thinking when he was handed the Intercontinental Title and looked to the ceiling to acknowledge his father, the late "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, at WWE's Payback PPV in June?

WWE will be represented at three separate events during the fisrt day of the 2013 Comic Con on Thursday, July 18 in San Diego, Calif. Also scheduled to appear is new signee Rob Van Dam appearing on behalf of WWE.

- Event 1 (10:00 a.m.): "Toys 101: An Evolution of the Modern Action Figure." Announced is a Q&A featuring "historians representing WWE" and other major comic-book brands. This is part of a partnership with Mattel, who is WWE's toy licensee.

- Event 2 (1:00 p.m.): "Mattel and WWE: Bring on the Action!" The Miz will be hosting a segment of MizTV with Dolph Ziggler.

Everyone, I’ve got to be honest. This week, the comments were on the low side. I’m sure the fact that school’s out for the summer and people are vacationing with Mickey Mouse played a factor. TNA Impact Wrestling Results – 7/4/13

Recapping Bully freaking about who the newest member of MEM is, and then Angle and Sting revealing it’s Joe. Then Suicide won the X Division Championship, but it wasn’t Perkins. Turned out to be Aries, and he is going after Bully’s WHC.

Aries to the ring. Aries – Some people love me. Some people, they love to boo me. Everybody now has to respect me. I came out last week and do what I do – outsmart people, create controversy, cause a buzz. Last year I created Option C. Last year I cashed in the X Division Title, and won the WHC. After my clever plan where I captured this, you bet your ass I’m cashing in for a shot at Bully at Destination X, and will be the WHC again.
